Dr. Koppel has had a varied career, but always comes back to her first love, caring for animals. She studied biology and psychology at Duke University, and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has studied wildlife and livestock in Kenya and Zimbabwe, worked as a Laboratory Animal Technician, and after settling in Oregon, began working at small animal clinics in Yamhill County. In 2008, with a group of veterinary and technician colleagues, she co-founded a non-profit, Portland Animal Welfare Team, providing free veterinary care for the pets of people in extreme poverty, eventually leading the organization as Executive Director for 5 years. In January 2019, she purchased Oregon Mobile Pet Care and is delighted to be able to provide personable in-home veterinary care for dogs and cats in the greater Salem area.
